About Us

OUR STORY

Charles E. Barton and Henry G. Reed first started working together as craftsmen at a small silversmith manufacturing company. They improved their craft in the company while moving up the ranks. In 1824, the men became presidents and re-named the company as Reed & Barton; creating the brand we know today. They brought along their respect for craftsmanship and quality throughout their career. These values are still the cornerstones of Reed & Barton.

Over the years, Reed & Barton has received commissions from both national and foreign governments. We’ve been the recipient of many prestigious honors and awards, including a Medal of Excellence at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition. Reed & Barton also produced the Olympic Medals for the 1996 Atlanta games.

Additionally, we have had a history in the White House. President Dwight Eisenhower was awarded with a trophy that was made by Reed & Barton when he won the National Celebrities Tournament in 1954. President John F. Kennedy cut the inaugural cake using the Pointed Antique cake knife by Reed & Barton in 1961. The First Lady Jacqueline Onassis Kennedy and President Kennedy also received our Paul Revere punch set as a gift.

In the fall of 2007, we launched our first collection with New York City designer, Thomas O’Brien, and have been collaborating with him ever since. Sharing our passion for bringing luxury to the everyday, Thomas O’Brien designs timeless pieces that deliver great style and approachable luxury. The Thomas O’Brien collection brings modern sensibility to classic pieces.
