Henry G. Reed and Charles E. Barton first worked together as craftsman at a small silversmith manufacturing company. They honed their craft while moving up the ranks in the company. In 1824, the men became presidents and re-named the company to Reed & Barton; founding the brand we know today. They carried their deep respect for quality and craftsmanship throughout their career. These values still remain the cornerstones of the Reed & Barton brand.
Over the years, Reed & Barton has received commissions from both national and foreign governments. We’ve been the recipient of many prestigious honors and awards, including a Medal of Excellence at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition. Reed & Barton also produced the Olympic Medals for the 1996 Atlanta games.
Additionally, we’ve had a long history with the White House. In 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower received a trophy made by Reed & Barton for being the winner of the National Celebrities Tournament. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy cut his inaugural cake with our Reed & Barton Pointed Antique cake knife. President Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Onassis Kennedy also received one of our Paul Revere punch sets as a gift.
In the fall of 2007, we launched our first collection with New York City designer, Thomas O’Brien, and have been collaborating with him ever since. Sharing our passion for bringing luxury to the everyday, Thomas O’Brien designs timeless pieces that deliver great style and approachable luxury. The Thomas O’Brien collection brings modern sensibility to classic pieces.
