Care & Use
Reed & Barton has the distinct advantage of offering beautiful crystal stemware, barware and giftware to enhance the beauty of a table setting or home decor. Crystal isn't just for special occasions -- cut crystal is durable and can be used frequently. Reed & Barton crystal is safe to use with food and beverages. Please follow the care guidelines below to maintain the brilliance and integrity of your crystal for years to come. Always hand wash your crystal in warm water with a mild liquid detergent, and hand dry with a soft cloth to prevent spotting. Do not subject crystal to hot water or to abrasive detergents. To prevent chipping and scratching crystal when washing, remove rings, and line the bottom of the sink with a towel or rubber mat. Crystal should not be subjected to sudden changes in temperature, which may cause breakage. Do not pour cold beverages into a pitcher that's just been washed with warm water. To insure that your crystal maintains its brilliance, add some vinegar to the water when hand washing. Avoid storing beverages in crystal containers for extended periods of time. Change liquid contents of all crystal containers frequently. This will help preserve the product's finish and avoid film build-up. To remove stains in vases and decanters, mix a handful of uncooked rice in a solution of warm water, lemon juice and vinegar and let soak. To prevent damage to candleholders, never allow a candle to burn within one inch of the crystal. Always use tealights in protective casings for votive candleholders. Always store your stemware upright, allowing enough space between the rims to prevent chipping.
